MISSION STATEMENT
To help attorneys regain a work-life balance, increase their profit margin, and lower their clients’ legal fees
by providing substantive legal support on an as-needed basis.
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL FREELANCE PARALEGAL?
The terms “freelance paralegal” and “virtual paralegal” are often used interchangeably (although they can have different meanings) and generally refer to a virtual freelance paralegal. The American Bar Association defines a paralegal as a “person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.” As such, a virtual freelance paralegal is a paralegal who contracts with an attorney, firm, corporation, agency, or other entity to perform substantive legal work from his or her office under the direction and supervision of a licensed attorney.
A virtual freelance paralegal performs the same tasks delegated to a regular paralegal including, but not limited to, case management or development; factual or legal research; document preparation or analysis; drafting of pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and legal memoranda; and trial preparation. A paralegal will often collect, review, organize, and analyze information and make recommendations to the attorney.
A virtual freelance paralegal is available as needed to handle daily overflow, short-term projects, long-term projects, or large cases. Utilizing a freelance paralegal will:
•
give you more time to focus on pressing matters;
•
help you manage a heavy caseload;
•
help your regular paralegal manage a heavy caseload;
•
provide you with continuing support during your paralegal’s absence;
•
minimize your overhead;
•
improve your practice’s profit margin; and
•
reduce your clients’ legal fees.
My goal in providing freelane paralegal services is to support attorneys, firms, corporate, and governmental entities as needed so that they receive the support they need when they need it. Whether you need a paralegal for one-time, occasional, or regular assistance, short-term or long-term projects, I will personally work with you to ensure your needs are met. By working together, you can regain a work-life balance while improving your economical efficiency and furthering your mission!
PRICING
In most cases, work is billed at an hourly rate so you pay only for the work performed. Generally, these rates are significantly lower than the rate at which you bill your clients, making it a win-win situation for both attorney and client. Excepting costs directly associated with the work performed, the hourly rate is all you pay. You do not pay employment-related insurance, taxes, or benefits, office space, furnishings, or equipment-related expenses.
PRIVACY
Privacy and confidentiality can be significant concerns when considering whether to work with a virtual freelance paralegal. When doing your research, inquire about privacy policies and practices. Most often, you will find them in place. I take privacy and confidentiality very seriously in providing ParalegalSvcs4Attys™. I hold all attorney-client information confidential and have security practices and procedures in place to maintain confidentiality.
